  • 1 tablespoon baking powder

  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
  • 3/4 cup whole milk
  • 2 cups apples, peeled, cored, and diced
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 egg for egg wash
  • additional sugar for sprinkling

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, and granulated sugar. Cut in the cold butter until crumbly.
  3. Stir in the milk until just combined; do not overmix.
  4. Roll out dough to 1/2-inch thickness on a floured surface.
  5. Mix diced apples with brown sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice in another bowl.
  6. Cut out biscuit rounds and place half on the baking sheet. Top with apple mixture and cover with remaining rounds; seal edges.
  7. Brush tops with beaten egg and sprinkle with additional sugar.
  8. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
