  • 1 box (432 g) chocolate cake mix
  • Eggs (as required by cake mix package)
  • Oil (as required by cake mix package)
  • 240 ml sour cream
  • 170 g chocolate chips
  • 1 jar (approx. 300 g) caramel ice cream topping
  • 1 container (454 g) vanilla frosting
  • 80 g crumbled Butterfinger candy bars

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven as per cake mix instructions.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix with eggs and oil according to package instructions. Stir in sour cream and chocolate chips until fully mixed.
  3. Pour the batter into a greased baking pan and bake as directed until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  4. Once baked, remove from the oven and pierce holes in the top using a wooden spoon handle while still warm.
  5. Pour most of the caramel topping over the cake to allow it to seep into the holes, reserving some for later.
  6. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
  7. Spread vanilla frosting evenly over the cooled cake, sprinkle with crumbled Butterfinger bars, and drizzle with reserved caramel before serving.
