  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 jar (24 ounces) marinara sauce
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1 container (15 ounces) ricotta cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese (plus extra for topping)
  • 9 lasagna noodles, cooked according to package directions
  • Ghost-shaped mozzarella slices (use a cookie cutter or cut by hand)
  • Fresh parsley, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Brown the ground beef with diced onion, then add minced garlic and simmer with marinara sauce, tomato paste, and herbs for about 10 minutes.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, Parmesan cheese, and shredded mozzarella until well blended.
  4. Assemble the lasagna by layering meat sauce, noodles, and cheese mixture in the greased baking dish until all ingredients are used up.
  5. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes; remove foil and bake an additional 15 minutes until bubbly.
  6. Add ghost-shaped mozzarella on top for the last few minutes of baking before serving.
