  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 8 oz cream cheese (softened)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the vanilla cake mix, water, vegetable oil, and eggs until smooth.
  3. Pour half of the batter into the prepared pan evenly.
  4. In another bowl, mix together cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth; spread this mixture over the batter.
  5. Spoon the remaining batter over the cream cheese layer.
  6. Whisk cocoa powder and milk together in a separate bowl and drizzle over the top layer of batter.
  7. Sprinkle chocolate chips on top.
  8. Bake for about 40–45 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean when inserted in the center.
  9. Allow to cool completely before serving.
