Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1 ¼ cups warm water
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 ½ cups whole milk
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese (dollops)
  • Fresh herbs (basil or parsley) for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dough: Mix warm water, sugar, and yeast in a bowl; let it sit until foamy. Combine flour and salt in a large bowl, then add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Knead until smooth. Let rise for 1–1½ hours until doubled.
  2. Make the white sauce: Melt butter in a saucepan; stir in flour to create a roux. Gradually whisk in warm milk until thickened. Add minced garlic, salt, pepper, and Parmesan; set aside.
  3. Preheat oven to 475°F (245°C). Roll out the dough on a floured surface into a round shape.
  4. Assemble: Spread white sauce over the dough, top with mozzarella and dollops of ricotta. Brush crust edges with olive oil and sprinkle oregano.
  5. Bake for 12–14 minutes until golden brown.
